The Bride is Clothed in Splendor I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.
-Isaiah 61:10
In the parable of the guest improperly attired in Matthew 22:11-14, Yeshua described the king's furious reaction to the guest who insulted him by not wearing the wedding garments. Guests who attempt to attend the Messiah's wedding in apparel of their own will be cast out into outer darkness, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Matthew 22:11-14 says:
And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: and he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen.
As His bride, we must not seek apparel of our own choosing, such as trying to obtain salvation based upon our own good works or without true faith or repentance. In book of Esther, we see how she allowed the king's servant to choose the apparel-she did not choose her own as the others had done. We must be willing to clothe ourselves with Christ by putting on the "new man" and adorning ourselves with righteous deeds. By being ever ready to do good works, we bring glory to God. Are you doing all you can to be clothed in splendor?
Revelation 19:6-8 says:
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, sayings, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigneth. Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her it was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints.
Psalm 45 is an arrangement of "The Wedding Song of the Messiah," which describes the much-anticipated marriage to the Lamb of God. Following ancient Middle Eastern tradition, the central focus rightly belongs to the bridegroom-not the bride, as is custom today. A vivid picture is given of the Bridegroom's majestic ride as He returns to meet His glorious bride! Here we see how the bride is adorned.
Psalm 45:9-15 shows us:
Kings' daughters were among thy honorable women: upon thy right hand did stand the queen in gold of Ophir. Hearken, O daughter, and consider, and incline thine ear; forget also thine own people, and thy father's house; so shall the king greatly desire thy beauty: for he is thy Lord; and worship thou him. And the daughter of Tyre shall be there with a gift; even the rich among the people shall entreat thy favor. The king's daughter is all glorious within: her clothing is of wrought gold. She shall be brought unto the king in raiment of needlework: the virgins her companions that follow her shall be brought unto thee. With gladness and rejoicing shall they be brought: they shall enter into the king's palace.
